Many people go to the same hair stylist for years just because they are used to either the stylist or the surroundings, even if they don’t get the best possible hair-cut or style possible. Some might enjoy the luxury of hairwash and treatments. But what can you do without salons, during times of Movement Control Order (MCO). Having as much knowledge about hair and what makes it look and feel great is just as important as the decisions you make with respect to your wardrobe. Hair care from home Washing your hair is obviously an important aspect of its care. Don’t, however, think that by constantly washing your hair you will improve its look and quality. The temperature of the water that you use to wash your hair is important. Make sure it isn’t too hot and if you feel any discomfort on your scalp due to heat then imagine what it is doing to your hair. Hair itself is dead and therefore cannot feel the heat. Hence, it's important to ensure the temperature is moderate so it does not hurt your scalp. Rinse your hair thoroughly both before application and after usage of conditioner or shampoo. When applying shampoo, make sure that you gently massage it through your hair in a circling motion. The general rule is that you should normally only apply shampoo once a day. The amount of shampoo that you apply is important too. Remember that ‘more is less’, so don’t apply too much shampoo or conditioner. After washing your hair, dry it correctly. Use a dry towel ﬁrst of all and gently pat your hair to remove the excess water. Then you may wish to use the towel and wrap it around your hair making sure that it is totally covered. This will allow the excess moisture to be absorbed by the towel before blow drying. Try leaving your hair wrapped in the towel for approximately 5 minutes. Beware of damaging your hair during blow drying. When it comes to blow drying your hair, be careful! Blow drying your hair with the most powerful dryer will probably do it more harm than good. If your hairdryer has a number of speed and heat settings, then you should start at the lowest setting and gradually work upwards until you ﬁnd a setting that is comfortable. Even though it may take you a little longer to blow dry your hair, you will be causing less damage and the look that you get will be far better than if you go for the fastest and hottest setting available. This again goes down to the type of hair dryer you choose. Be gentle when you comb... Take caution that you do not damage your hair either by using the wrong type of hair brush or doing it too vigorously. Imagine if your hair is living, would you brush or comb your hair as hard as you do now? Possibly not. Use a suitable comb or brush which is preferably not made of metal or which has very sharp edges. Don't use rubber bands lar... Many people use elastic hair bands to tie their hair back. Whilst this is acceptable, make sure you invest in a suitable band that is protected by material. Rubber bands are definitely a no no! If cabin crew is a career you are exploring, be sure you know what to lookout for before applying for the job interview.
